Savannah 2019
Every fall, we usually take a day trip to CNN or another network in Atlanta or close by. This year we had the opportunity to take a weekend long trip to Savannah!
Our first weekend trip in the fall went amazing as we toured two different news organizations! We started the trip with a backstage tour at WTOC-TV, the local Savannah broadcast news channel. We watched part of the show and then toured the studio and their offices, and our students were able to talk with the journalists about their current projects and careers. Many recent Grady grads get their start at this station and in Savannah, so it was helpful for our members to get advice from people that were once in their shoes. The next day we went to Savannah Morning News paper. We saw the printing press at their building and met with the editors and other journalists. We networked with their staff and saw their new project of starting a podcast and the recording studio. DiGamma Kappa loves to incorporate all kinds of journalism not just broadcast or digital media, so it was nice to include the traditional newspaper media for those interested!
