Abby Halpin
President

Abby has been part of DiGamma Kappa for the past three years and served as our Director of Finance for two of them. She’s also been on our unforgettable New York trip — an experience she calls the opportunity of a lifetime.

​

As President, Abby plays a key role in guiding the organization and ensuring its continued success. She handles:

  • Leading monthly meetings and coordinating guest speaker sessions.

  • Overseeing membership engagement and communication channels (including GroupMe).

  • Managing logistics and planning for DGK’s annual New York City trip.

  • Supervising all organizational processes to maintain growth and member involvement.

Cade Johnson
Vice President

Cade has been a dedicated member of DiGamma Kappa since his freshman year and has loved every second of it! From networking events and peer mentoring to unforgettable trips to NYC, DGK has played a huge role in shaping his broadcast journey.

 

His primary responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the President with organizational planning and execution.

  • Leading recruitment and outreach efforts to grow membership and engagement.

  • Acting as a liaison between DGK and Grady College professionals to strengthen industry connections.

Sebastian Baggett Director of Finance

Sebastian has been a member of DiGamma Kappa for one year and had the incredible opportunity to join the 2025 New York industry trip. His favorite memory from the trip was visiting the Associated Press headquarters and seeing the AP Wall of Honor, an experience that deepened his appreciation for the broadcasting industry.

 

His key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the organization’s overall budget and financial planning.

  • Budgeting for bi-weekly meetings and major events, including the annual New York City trip.

  • Handling reimbursements and maintaining accurate financial records.

  • Collecting and managing member dues.

  • Allocating funds for special functions, such as DGK’s winter banquet.

Clarice Henry
Director of Professional Development

Clarice joined DGK as a freshman. One of her favorite memories is visiting iHeartRadio on our amazing New York City trip. She loves how DGK gives students a space to build friendships and explore broadcast journalism—even when you’re just starting out.
 

 

Her core tasks include:

  • Reaching out to professionals in the journalism industry and invites them to share their stories with members

  • Helping members build a professional network before graduation

  • Showing students that the path to success varies for everyone

Mara Mershon
Director of Marketing & Engagement

Mara joined DGK during the second semester of her sophomore year. At her first social, she didn’t know many people, but everyone was so welcoming and made it a fun experience! Because of her musical theatre schedule, she can’t always attend socials or speaker events, but when she does, it feels like no time has passed. She’s excited to get to know everyone better this year and connect through the art of storytelling.

Her primary roles involve​:

  • Oversees all social media accounts, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn

  • Designs and updates the DGK website

  • Creates graphics for social media content

  • Reaches out to new members

  • Engages with current members by highlighting them on social media
